Q: How
do I find out more information about Jen Halpern
Photography?
All you have to do is contact us via phone or email, and we’ll schedule
you for your Free Consultation.
This is an informal meet and greet, where we can learn more about you and you about us, and what you would like out of your photography session. This is your time to talk about who you are as an actor/model, and how we can get marketable Headshots and/or Comp Cards that best suit your needs. Q: I’ve decided
I want to book a Photography Session with JHP.
What do I do now?
That’s great! Just give us a call and we’ll schedule an appointment. You
will then need to put a deposit down which will hold your session.
Please read more about Payment Options
Q: Please tell
me more about the Hair and Make-Up Artists that
work with you.

with several lovely and talented Hair and Make-Up Artists and can
certainly book one for your shoot.
Karen Cecilia -
http://www.karencecilia.net The day of your shoot, the Hair and Make-Up Artist, you, and I will
meet, and talk about style options. They will always suggest great ideas
they think will make you look your best based on your hair, skin, and
coloring.
Q: What kind
of Preparation can I do for my Shoot?
It is your shoot after all, and nobody knows you better than you!
Why not be as prepared as possible? It’s always good to go through Magazines, the Internet, Television and do research. See if there is anything you find out there in the world that you can bring into you session, whether it be a hairstyle, color, expression, or look. Please feel free to bring in any ideas, clippings or printouts of your own and we can discuss them.
Q: It is the
day before my Headshot Shoot, what should I pack?
Here’s a list of clothing options and some things you should consider before
you come to your Shoot.
Wardrobe Options for Men/Women Bring colors that best suit your complexion and clothes that you feel comfortable wearing. Commercial Shots: You will want to bring out that fresh smile of yours that makes you look warm and friendly! So, think some cheery solid colors…nice deep or rich blues, purples, greens, reds, oranges, or pinks. Of course, blacks and browns are also options. Included in your wardrobe can be a selection of the following: v-necks, t-shirts, polos, blouses, in long or short sleeves. It’s always a good idea to bring layers, so feel free to pack some cardigans, sweaters or blazers. Please stay away from turtlenecks, pastel colors, and logos. Legit/Soap Shots: These are your Dramatic shots so you can go a little Sexier, Sassier, or Darker. Same colors can apply as Commercial shots, but you can also bring more muted colors such as maroon, navy blue, black, brown, and grey. Other options are buttoned-down shirts and blazers/jackets for men, sexy tops or dresses for women. We will go through your wardrobe at the beginning of your session and decide what will work best. Q: What is
some other good advice that will help me prepare for
my Shoot?
Please don’t drink alcohol 48 hours before you shoot.
Keep yourself hydrated, and moisturize your skin. Get plenty of sleep the night before. Come well rested. Contact lens wearers, please bring saline and extra contacts if necessary. Please don’t dye or wax your hair a few days before your shoot! Try to do it at least a week beforehand so it can settle. Men: please come shaven, unless we are doing some legit shots with facial hair. If so, please bring your own razor and shaving cream with you. Q: It is the
day of my shoot, what else can I do to prepare?
Exercise is always a great way of maintaining focus and getting your blood
circulated. Go for a nice run/walk in the morning or for a work-out at the
gym.
Utilize any relaxation or meditation techniques to center yourself. Draw from any acting technique you have studied that will be helpful during your shoot. Mainly, you just want to do what you can to keep yourself nice and grounded so you can enjoy the process. Eat a good meal beforehand. Definitely bring your ipod! Q: What will
happen during my shoot?
You’ve come prepared, have arrived at the studio, we have gone through your
wardrobe, and you are now hair/makeup ready, and you look fabulous!
Now it’s time to take some pictures! Whether you are a Professional or someone taking pictures for the first time, I believe, direction from the Photographer is important to help you stay focused in your moment. So, I will talk you through the whole shoot, and together, we will get the shots you need. Q: What happens
after my Photo Shoot?
Two to three days after your shoot , we will notify you that your Client
log-in is ready and give you your username and password.
Q: What’s the
Client Log-In?
The Client Log-In is located through my website and is where you have access
to your pictures online. You will be given a private User ID and Password
that you can share with agents, casting directors, managers, friends, or
family.
Q: What is a
Follow-Up Appointment?
Once you have had a chance to go through your pictures and select your
favorites, please call us to set up a Follow-Up Appointment. We will sit
down together and review your selects. We won’t let you leave unless you
feel confident you have the shots you need!
Q: What is the
Resume Consultation that is offered exclusively to
JHP clients?
For JHP clients only, I will sit with you for 45 minutes and help outline
your resume whether this is your first resume or you want to give your old
one a new look. This way you leave JHP with your Headshot and Resume in
hand!
Q: What happens
after I have decided on the pictures I want to
use Professionally? Q: Now what
happens?
Now go out there and make all your dreams come true!
